Uzoamaka Isioma Obu is a legal expert with a strong background in International Law and Human Rights. She earned her Bachelors of Law from Rivers State University in 2019 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2021. She further pursued a Masters in Law with a focus on International Legal Studies from American University and a Masters in Business Administration, with a focus on Consultancy Management from the University of Suffolk. She has experience working in diverse legal role.
She worked at the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, where she provided Pro Bono services to marginalized group. She further worked as an inhouse lawyer at Feima Investment Oil and Gas Company, where she drafted and reviewed contracts amongst others. She interned as law clerk at American Association of Port Authority, a Trade Association located in Washington D.C., and also served as Associate General Counsel for World Service Association. Obu is also known for founding the Pink Power Initiative, now called, EmpoweHer Smiles Foundation which provides legal representation and financial assistance to women and young girls in marginalized communities. She succeeded in the NewYork Bar exam and is currently licensed to practice law in U.S. and in Nigeria. She currently works at Gorman and Williams Law Firm, which is general practicing firm with areas which include; Maritime Law, Torts, Intellectual Property, Corporate Practice, and Wills and Estate.
